Grading 0-3 road rides
Grading 4-7 mountain rides

GRADING 0  - BEGINNERS / NOVICE
This grading is reserved for Friday mornings and is ideally suitable for the beginner / novice or those who would like to see what PMTB is about. The group rides at the pace of the slowest rider and we wait for all. Doing an up and over requires some sort of fitness, 90% of beginners will not make the entire ride the first time round. Before riding with a group on the Friday morning ride you should at least be able to cycle 10-20km's on your own.
 
GRADE 1 - GREEN (EASY)
Terrain: Flat road rides with some gravel roads
Duration of ride - 1:30 max
Pace: Easy  - ideally suitable for beginners and novices.
 
GRADE 2 - BLUE (INTERMEDIATE)
Terrain: Flat tar / gravel roads
Duration of ride - 1:30 to 3hrs
Pace: Easy to moderate - suitable for base training (aerobic endurance)
Suggested fitness level: moderate with some endurance needed

GRADE 3 - RED (DIFFICULT)
Terrain: Tar /  gravel roads with some long climbs e.g. mountain passes
Duration of ride - 3 to 6hrs
Pace: Moderate - suitable for Aerobic Stamina
Suggested fitness level: A reasonable fitness level required with a high level of endurance stamina needed
 
GRADE 4 - GREEN (EASY)
Terrain: Mountain - no technical skill required
Duration of ride: 1-1½
Pace: Easy
Suggested fitness level: moderate fitness level

Time from the Dros to the T-junction - 38min

Time from the Dros to the Tower- 1:10min
Time from Dros to top of cement path - 1:30min
 
GRADE 5 - BLUE (INTERMEDIATE)
Terrain: Mountain - no technical skill required
Duration of ride: 1½ -2½
Pace: Easy to Moderate
Suggested fitness level: moderate with some endurance needed

Time from the Dros to the T-junction - 32min
Time from the Dros to the Tower- 60min
Time from the Dros to the top of cement path - 1:20

GRADE 6 - BLACK (DIFFICULT)
Terrain: Mountain - some technical skill required
Duration of ride: 2 - 3½
Pace: Moderate too hard
Suggested fitness level: high fitness level with endurance essential

GRADE 7  - RED (EXTREME)
Terrain: Mountain - technical skill required
Duration of ride: 3½ - 5
Pace: Hard, extreme, severe, bloed, afk*k
Suggested fitness level: high with endurance essential
