Long Route Hi eks opsoek na 'n lekker lang roete naby aan die paarl. Ek het gekyk na die roetes op die website maar die 95km se route map is nie daar nie. As enige iemand dalk vir my 'n route map kan stuur of net 'n roete beskryf dalk kan ek een self opstel. Net vir intressantheid check die nuwe Google earth uit kan nogal mal roetes met route profiles en al skep. Thanks David TD and CS have come up with a new posting format, it should give us a much better idea of what to expect on a ride. Hopefully this will get more postings and more joins. C u on the trails... (more changes in the making) As per the (current) official TransBaviaans rider listing, the following riders from Paarl MTB (Paarl) will be assaulting the Baviaanskloof on 14 August 2010. Team 254 - 4 Skins Paarl MTB - Gavin Williams, Johan Jonck, Natale de Candia, ??? (where is boet Brendan) Team 266 - Merry Masters - Champ Mare Malherbe, Prof Johan Malherbe, Hennie Karsten, Hugo Swanepoel If I've let anyone of the list, soooorry, but that's the info available. Enjoy the last couple of km's training and above all, ENJOY THE RACE!!! Trevor,Louis,Hermann and myself had meeting with Elana Meyer, Kathleen Shuttleworth (Jag Foundation) and Songo Fipaza (Songo.info) with the iam of supporting and giving something to under priviledged young mountainbikers from disadvantaged backgroungs by using the Paarl Mtb as the vehicle for setting up connections , making riders aware of needs and giving information. Jag is a program that aims to lead kids and young adults to a healthy lifestyle trough running , cycling and some serious international sport stars are involved in this. Hallo Ek is Hanmarie Stadler van die Paarl. Ek is op soek na n geleentheid Willowmore toe Vrydag vir die Baviaans. Vriende van my van Bloemfontien ry hul eerste Baviaans en ek ry saam hul support crew. As julle dalk vir my in kontak kan bring met iemand wat van hier af ry sal dit help. As we all know mountainbiking is a very expensive sport and we felt that Paarl Mtb and its members are well positioned to make serious contributions in supporting young riders to a healthy life away from gangs and other related activities that are claiming their futures and potensial. Songo heads up Songo.info sponsored by Specialized with Christopher Sauer and Burry Stander as the main awareness drive behind it (they ride the Epic as Team Sogo.info ) . Songo manages the BMX and Mountainbike programs in Kajamandi outside Stellenbosch. Songo has cleared with Christopher that he can use the name on Paarl Mtb site.
We hope that you as members of Paarl Mtb and will support this effort in any small or big way in making a diifirence in the lives of youngsters. In short the process we agreed to is : 1) Giving Songo.info the opportunity to advertise on our Website. 2) Setting the site up in such a way that we get notification of a need somewhere. 3) Channeling of support to Songo 4) Allow races and events to be advertized on the site but with the understanding that some race entries will be sponsored to Songo.info kids wanting to take part. 5) Design of a cycling shirt on which blocks can be auctioned off for company logos as a fundraiser for Songo.info.
